A Sero-epidemiological Study on the Influenza Virus by A,B,O Blood Type in Korea.

Abstract
In this seroepidemiological study, the prevalence was determined by antibody levels to influenza Ohmachi/53, Japan/57, Kumamoto/65, Hong Kong/68 virus atrains using 300 wpecimens obtained from Korean by blood groups and age groups in 1974.
The results obtained are as follows;
1. Distribution of A, B, O blood group among 200 specimens were
A type ................32.0 %
B type ................28.0 %
O type ................29.7 %
AB type ................10.3 %
2. Hemagglutination inhibition (H-I) antibody positive rates were as follows;
Strains 1: 8~1 : 16 ¡Ã1 : 32
A/Ohmachi/1.52(H_(1)N_(1))........11.7%....................2.7%
A/Japan/305/57(H_(2)N_(2))........19.0%....................4.3%
A/Kumamoto/1/65(H_(2)N_(2)).......34.3%...................39.0%
A/Hong Kong/8/68(H_(3)N_(2))......11.3%...................84.0%
3. The order of antibody posses against influenza virus by each blood type were
A/Ohmachi/1.52(H_(1)N_(1))........O>B>AB>A
A/Japan/305/57(H_(2)N_(2))........O=AB>B>A
A/Kumamoto/1/65(H_(2)N_(2)).......B>O>AB>A
A/Hong Kong/8/68(H_(3)N_(2))......AB>O>B>A
4. There are highly significantly greater proportions of positive rates to A_(1) and A_(2) Asian strains among persons of blood group O and B than among those of blood group A.
